.: The Interview :.

[ The following interview was conducted between and Ms. Forrest on 7.15.10 ]
TMJ:
Hello Amber how are you? So should we get right to it then?
I am good! How are you? ..and yes we can!
TMJ:
I am great! Thanks! So, first of all, what made you start competing in fitness events?
I went to an ABBA (Alberta Bodybuilding Association) information seminar back in 2005 and decided that I was going to compete in a show no matter what it took. I competed at Provincials in 2006 under the guidance of myself (maybe not the smartest thing of done) and placed high enough to qualify for the next level. I then worked with Ron Partlow and he guided me to 2nd in 2008, after that 1st and the Overall title in 2009.
TMJ :
What are some of your fitness goals?
To one day achieve Pro status in the IFBB and become a full time personal trainer. I find great satisfaction in motivating and helping others so I know I would love it. To help others achieve their fitness goals and find the best in themselves is very rewarding.
TMJ :
What would you say has been the highest point in your career so far?
I would have to say winning ABBA Provincials and having people tell me that I was what motivated them to get started in competing or get in shape. There is no better feeling then knowing you’ve had even the smallest impact in someone’s life.
TMJ:
Who is your trainer? Big Ron Partlow-He’s extremely good at what he does and makes the process a breeze! He puts my health FIRST, he won’t ever try to stave or kill me with cardio just so I can step on stage.
TMJ:
What does your training consist of? 5 days a week with mostly weights and a few machines followed with the CAR-DAY-O.
TMJ:
What about your diet? Consists of 6 small, balanced meals a day when dieting for a show. In my off season I try to keep things clean by eating 5 meals a day but I of course don’t shy away from having some wine and higher calorie food.
TMJ:
Do you have any hidden talents?
Hummm… I ride a motorcycle, does that count?
TMJ:
[Laughs] Some might consider that a talent! Finish the following sentence for me: When I was young I wanted to be a(n):
Doctor or lawyer.
TMJ:
What are you afraid of?
Missing out on what life has to offer. I live by two quotes-“Live, Love & Laugh” and “Learn from the past, look to the future and live every moment.”
TMJ:
What are your biggest pet peeves?
Speed bumps!!! I would like to know who invented them… I close second would be someone interrupting me in the middle of a set at the gym, seriously?!?!
TMJ:
What are your favorite cheat foods?
Oh I think everyone knows that cheesecake is my kryptonite! Weird thing is I never really liked it as a child. I would also have to throw peanut butter in there too. Actually any kind of nut/nut butter is so delicious!
TMJ:
What do you enjoy taking part in when you have free time?
Pretty much, anything outdoors! Reading a good book is also up there; Papillion is one of my favorites. The trials and obstacles that he had to overcome all the while keeping an amazing attitude about it is really inspiring.
TMJ:
Do you have a favorite diet meal?
Breakfast! It’s the first thing I do when I get up, HUGE mug of coffee or green tea followed by oats mixed with cinnamon and Splenda. Then for protein its eggs whites with either salsa or sugar-free ketchup.
TMJ:
Are you married, single?
Who’s asking? [Laughs] Right now I guess I’m on the journey in life to one day find “Mr. Right”! Might help if I had the time also, but they do say you’ll make time for the right person.
TMJ:
What is the next step for Amber Forrest?
Compete at CBBF Nationals this August and see where that takes me. I also want to discover a new language and learn to play the piano.
TMJ:
Well good luck with the CBBF nationals! Knock'em dead!
Thank you! Ill try my best!
